Faust, the man who sold his soul to the Devil
Faust, tired of his life, is prepared to sell his soul to the Devil to regain his youth. But a Devil-assisted youth can only end in disaster. Faust seduces Marguerite but kills her brother and drives her to her ruin. The new version will be premiered on Jan 22.
 
Albert Herring breaking free
Albert Herring is one of the funniest operas of the 20th century. The story of the surprising transformation of Albert breaking free from the dominance of his mother and of the hypocrisy of the citizens of a small town is set to music peppered with humorous quotes. Premiere in the Almi Hall on Feb 19.
 
La Sylphide
La Sylphide is one of the oldest ballets still in the standard repertoire. Its most famous version, choreographed by August Bournonville to music by Herman Severin Løvenskiold, was premiered in Copenhagen in 1836. Premiere at the Finnish National Ballet on Feb 26.

La Traviata – Love never dies
Alfredo’s family does not approve of him associating with a woman of low reputation, and Violetta is eventually forced to part from him. The young lovers eventually meet again, but by then Violetta is dying. In La Traviata, Verdi serves up a richness of melodic flow and elegant orchestration.
